Editorial Policy
How content on Boxing Arcade is produced, reviewed and maintained — and the rules we hold ourselves to.
Last updated: 15 September 2026
Our purpose
We publish two kinds of content: documentation for the games we build, and guides about how arcade boxing games work. Both exist to help someone play better and understand what they are playing. Neither exists to fill a page with keywords.
Who writes it
All editorial content is produced by the Boxing Arcade team and published under the byline Alex Carter, which we state plainly is an editorial persona for the team rather than a separate individual. The people writing about a game's mechanics are the people who built it.
What we will not do
These are firm rules, not aspirations.
- We do not invent statistics. No made-up percentages, no fabricated survey results, no invented player counts or download figures.
- We do not invent sources. Every reference we cite is a real, checkable document. We would rather say “we could not find a reliable source for this” than manufacture one.
- We do not invent quotes or experts. There are no fake interviews and no fictional authorities on this site.
- We do not publish fake reviews, ratings or rankings. We have no review system and no star ratings, because we have no honest way to produce them.
- We do not display player counts or popularity metrics. We cannot measure them, so we do not show them. Where a game is marked “Featured”, that means we chose it, and the site says so.
- We do not claim credentials we do not hold. See the author page for an explicit list of what we are not.
- We do not pad for length. A 900-word answer to a 900-word question is better than a 3,000-word one.
How game documentation is written
Every game page is written from the game's own source. Reaction windows, recovery times, damage multipliers, health carry-over percentages and score values are read out of the code rather than estimated. When we rebalance a game, updating its page is part of the change, not a follow-up task.
Difficulty ratings are the clearest example. Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert on this site
correspond to a specific set of numbers in /js/game/difficulty.js — reaction
window, opponent speed, guard rate, damage multipliers, spawn rate. A game badged Expert is
genuinely running Expert values.
How guides are written
Guides start from a real question someone might ask, and are structured to answer it rather than to accumulate sections. Every guide states what it assumes you already know, links to the games it discusses so you can test the claims yourself, and separates what we know from what we think.
Where a guide discusses real-world boxing or the history of boxing games, it is clearly framed as background, it cites sources, and it distinguishes documented fact from our own opinion.
Advertising and editorial independence
Advertising has no influence on editorial content. We do not accept payment for coverage, we publish no sponsored posts, and no advertiser sees content before it is published. If that ever changes, any paid placement will be labelled as such, prominently, at the top of the piece.
Advert placement is constrained by policy: clearly labelled containers, positioned between content sections, never inside or adjacent to game controls, and never styled to resemble gameplay elements or navigation.
Updates and maintenance
Pages carry both a publication date and a last-updated date, and both are real. We update a page when the game it documents changes, when we find an error, or when something has become outdated — not on a schedule to refresh a timestamp.
Corrections
We correct errors as soon as we know about them. Significant corrections are noted on the page. The fact-checking policy sets out the detail.
Use of AI tools
We use software tools in our workflow, including for drafting and editing assistance. Every published page is reviewed by a person who is responsible for its accuracy, and every technical claim about our games is verified against the source code before publication. We do not publish unreviewed generated text, and responsibility for what is on this site rests with us.
