Heavy Punch — Free Boxing Arcade Game
Heavy Punch is built on a single tension: the longer you charge, the harder you hit and the more time your opponent has to raise their guard. Every punch in this game is a bet on how much power you can bank before the window closes.

About Heavy Punch
Holding the button fills a power meter that sweeps up and then, if you keep holding, overshoots and drops. Releasing at the peak lands the hardest punch available. Releasing early lands something weaker but safer. Releasing after the overshoot lands almost nothing and costs you a large amount of stamina.
The complication is the opponent. Their guard rises on a timer that starts when you begin charging, so a long charge and a late release means hitting a raised guard rather than an open one. The peak of your meter and the moment their guard closes are deliberately close together, and the gap shrinks every level. By level six they are close enough that you are choosing between a heavy punch that might be blocked and a light one that certainly will not.
Stamina limits how many attempts you get. A full charge costs roughly three times a light one, so a run of greedy punches empties the bar and forces a recovery pause that gives the opponent free ground. It is a short, focused game about a single decision made well.
Objective
Land the heaviest punches you can before the guard closes. Ten levels.
How to play Heavy Punch
- Hold Space, the mouse button or the tap surface to charge. The power meter sweeps up.
- Release at the peak for maximum damage. Keep holding past it and the meter overshoots and collapses.
- The opponent's guard rises on a timer that starts when you begin charging.
- A punch that lands before the guard closes scores fully; one that lands after is mostly absorbed.
- Charging costs stamina in proportion to how long you hold.
Boxing mechanics in Heavy Punch
Charge meter with an overshoot
Power rises to a peak then collapses if you keep holding, so there is a real ceiling to greed.
Reactive guard
The opponent's guard closes on a timer that starts when you start charging. Longer charge, later punch, higher chance of a block.
Shrinking gap
The distance between your meter peak and their guard closing narrows every level.
Proportional stamina cost
A full charge costs roughly three times a light one, so greedy runs force recovery pauses.
Ten levels
Guard speed and meter speed both rise, with the meter peak becoming narrower.
Scoring
| Action | Points |
|---|---|
| Light punch lands | 60 |
| Medium charge lands | 140 |
| Peak charge lands | 240 |
| Punch absorbed by a closed guard | 20% of base |
| Level cleared | 300 × level |
| Combo multiplier | up to ×5 |
Point values shown are the base amounts before the combo multiplier and the difficulty multiplier are applied.
Tips and strategy
- Release slightly before the visual peak. Input latency means the punch leaves later than you think it does.
- A medium charge that lands beats a peak charge that is blocked, and by a wide margin once the guard timing tightens.
- Alternate. Two light punches followed by one peak charge keeps your stamina in the band where you can still attempt a big one.
- Watch the guard, not the meter, from level five onward. The meter is predictable; the guard is what changed.
- When your stamina drops below a third, take three light punches deliberately. The recovery pause you avoid is worth more than the damage you give up.
Difficulty
Rated Medium. Early levels have a comfortable gap between the meter peak and the guard closing; by level eight the two nearly coincide and every punch is a genuine gamble.

Heavy Punch — frequently asked questions
How do you play Heavy Punch?
Hold the button to charge a power meter, and release at its peak for maximum damage. Holding past the peak makes the meter collapse and wastes the punch.
Why does my big punch keep getting blocked?
The opponent's guard rises on a timer that starts the moment you begin charging. A long charge gives them time to close, so a peak punch released late often arrives after the guard is up.
Should I always charge fully?
No. From about level five, a medium charge that lands is worth far more than a peak charge that is absorbed, and it costs a third of the stamina.
Why does my stamina run out so fast?
Charge cost is proportional to hold time — a full charge costs roughly three times a light punch. Mixing light and heavy punches keeps you in the band where you can still attempt a big one.
Is there a trick to the timing?
Release slightly before the visual peak. Every input path has some latency, and the punch leaves fractionally later than you intend.
Does it work with touch?
Yes. Press and hold the tap surface and lift to release, exactly as on the keyboard.
